AVES Trio at the Finals (Huisun Hong, Jacob Rockower, Euisun Hong)

The AVES Trio takes top prizes at the 11th annual Coltman Chamber Music Competition sponsored by the Austin Chamber Music Center, Austin, Texas March 2-3, 2024.

With great anticipation, we tuned into the livestreamed Awards Ceremony of the Coltman Chamber Music Competition on Sunday, March 3rd, to learn that YCM’s AVES Trio had won not only the First Prize ($1500) in the Junior string and piano division, but also the coveted Grand Prize at the Austin Chamber Music Center’s 11th annual competition.

Four ensembles were selected from ten semi-finalist ensembles and advanced to the final round. Along with our AVES Trio, the ensembles were the Feliz Piano Quartet (Los Angeles Colburn Academy), the Myer Schwartz Trio (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania), and the Solare Quartet (New York, NY Juilliard). The Feliz Piano Quartet took Second Prize.

You can watch their award winning performance below!

The Grand Prize ($2000) allows the AVES Trio to perform in the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center’s Young Musicians Concert in New York City in the spring of 2025.  The Young Musicians Concert will be a collaboration of top New Jersey and New York chamber ensembles in addition to the AVES Trio and other special guest ensembles from around the world. The AVES Trio will receive a free one-hour coaching session with a CMS artist at Lincoln Center and a performance in Alice Tully Hall alongside outstanding chamber musicians. The concert will produce a professional video of the AVES Trio’s performance that will appear on the CMS website.

Congratulations AVES Trio!
